As part of the Respect Festival we have produced an interactive art work that will be displayed on the side of the Portland Square building at the University of Plymouth. Members of the public will be asked to send in, via SMS, their words of respect and these will be displayed with "Respect" translated into 8 of the languages currently used in Plymouth.

Far West is a major cross-art form project exploring the new consumer and cultural relationships that are emerging as the economic centre of the world shifts towards the East. The project includes exhibitions, off site presentations, performance, film and a range of events and activities. We assisted with this exhibition by building and online shop stocked with an exclusive range of items to provide real possibilities for art to play a fulfilling role within the customer's individual lifestyle.

i-DAT, in collaboration with Plymouth Arts Centre, presents: ‘S-OS: a Social Operating System’ for the city of Plymouth. S-OS is a collection of creative interventions and strategic manifestations that provides a new and more meaningful ‘algorithm’ for modeling ‘Social Exchange’ and proposes a more effective ‘measure’ for ‘Quality of Life’. The piece of work we've produced measures the little day-to-day exchanges to give the user an overall personal 'Happindex' which can be uploaded and pooled with others. The Plymouth Happindex can then be plotted to see how it performs against more established indexes such as the FTSE, Nasdaq and Dow Jones. www.s-os.org

We are very proud to announce that both of Chris' nominations won at last night's New Media Innovation awards ceremony. Along with digital creative Jamie Taylor, he picked up the award for the mobile category for their contribution to Noogy. Noogy was a building-size Tamagotchi-style virtual pet that combined 'smart' buildings and mobile phone technologies. The AI and SMS system that provided the basis of his personality was based on an intelligent mobile phone marketing tool that they have been developing called Stanley. The judges described it as "an innovative way in which it used artificial intelligence to receive text information and respond to it".
He was also part of the Cornwall Culture team that picked up the award in the multi-platform category which the judges described as "a great example of using a range of technologies to their fullest potential". Congratulations and well done!

In collaboration with I-DAT, we worked on a project called Noogy. Noogy is a Tamagotchi-style virtual pet that combines a mix of the physical and virtual by incorporating 'smart' buildings and mobile phone technologies into a dynamic building size interactive 'creature'. We provided the SMS interface and the AI that helped formed the basis for Noogy's personality.
A short film is available for viewing here or to learn more about the project, you can visit www.noogy.org
